I cant express the sacred feeling behind this great festival in few lines. There is a whole book named "Ramacharitmana" and "Ramayana" written on the life of Lord Rama. Inspite of having divine powers he remained a simple human and told the human kind how a man should live life.
Deepawali means Deep :- lantern, awali:- line. So its about lightening. It is said that People of "Ayodhya"reign of Rama) got full of joy,happiness and made ayodhya full of deep. So there was Light everywhere, the light of truth which dispels the darkness. It is celebrated on "amavasya"arkest night of the year. Everyone cleans its home and assumes that "Godess laxmi"Godess of wealth) will come to their home on night if it will be clean and make everybdy prosperous. Each and every house is decorated with lights. The whole family gets together and pray to God. We enjoy lots of fireworks at night. Many people also play playing cards. But the main attraction remains fireworks. For reducing the pollution of fireworks, our government and private social bodies keep promoting the use of deeps in lieu of fireworks.
